NEWARK, N.Y., 30 Aug. 2008.Ultralife Corp. in Newark, N.Y., will provide its communication switch subsystem for the U.S. Air Force Battle Control System-Mobile (BCS-M) program under terms of a $7 million Air Force order.

This order is under a five-year $30 million contract originally awarded to Ultralife's RedBlack Communications unit in May 2004. The Air Force has extended the contract's period of performance to December 2010.

The communications switch subsystem, developed by RedBlack Communications, is a distributed architecture voice communication subsystem that provides several operators, each from a fixed workstation, the capability to select, control, and communicate over radio, telephonic, and intercom networks in classified and unclassified modes.

The BCS-M system is to update and eventually replace the relatively old ground theater air command, control and reporting center. For more information contact Ultralife online at www.ulbi.com.
