British Army aviation trainer upgrade awarded to Rockwell Collins

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa 25 June 2008. Rockwell Collins in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, won a $5.5 million contract to upgrade the British Army's Aviation Command and Tactics Trainer (ACTT), which is part of the Mission Command Trainer (MCT) simulation and modeling system.

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa 25 June 2008.Rockwell Collins in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, won a $5.5 million contract to upgrade the British Army's Aviation Command and Tactics Trainer (ACTT), which is part of the simulation Mission Command Trainer (MCT).

This sixth phase of the program includes 60 channels of the EPX-50 image generator, 12 integrated helmet and display sighting systems, avionics, weapons. and after action review upgrades. Rockwell Collins, which recently acquired simulation company Evans & Sutherland, serves as the prime contractor for ACTT simulations.

The upgrade "will ensure that the ACTT continues to play a key role in the command and tactics training of our pilots," says British Army Col. Alex Tucker, commandant of the British Army's school of army aviation.

The ACT tactics simulator provides training, mission planning, and mission rehearsal against enemies in a virtual environment. The ACT uses high-fidelity databases from by Rockwell Collins to enable students to experience maneuvers and battles while instructors observe and evaluate their performances.
