BAE Systems to boost expertise in electro-optical and multispectral sensors with OASYS Technology acquisition

ARLINGTON, Va., 7 Sept. 2010. BAE Systems (LSE: BA) in Arlington, Va., is acquiring electro-optical systems and multispectral sensors specialist OASYS Technology LLC in Manchester, N.H., to complement existing electro-optical capabilities, technologies, and product offerings at BAE Systems, company officials say. Terms of the deal were not released.

BAE Systems (LSE: BA) in Arlington, Va., is acquiring electro-optical systems and multispectral sensors specialist OASYS Technology LLC in Manchester, N.H., to complement existing electro-optical capabilities, technologies, and product offerings at BAE Systems, company officials say. Terms of the deal were not released.

OASYS Technology specializes in rugged electro-optical systems for land, sea, air, and space applications in military, laboratory instrumentation, optical assemblies, and optical components markets. Last February OASYS won a $10.6 million U.S. Navy contract develop a multispectral sensor suite for advanced imaging in unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).

OASYS Technology employs 65 people. At closing, OASYS Technology will become part of the BAE Systems Electronic Solutions segment in Nashua, N.H. OASYS Technology specializes in multispectral sensors, and has expertise in rugged ultraviolet through infrared sensors, common-aperture multi-spectral sensor systems, laser optical subsystems, precision motion systems, and laboratory instruments. The deal is expected to close by the end of this year.
