nLight seeks to boost presence in optical fiber market with acquisition of Liekki

VANCOUVER, Wash. -- Semiconductor laser maker nLIGHT Corp. in Vancouver, Wash., is acquiring special fiber manufacturer Liekki Corp. in Lohja, Finland.

VANCOUVER, Wash. --Semiconductor laser maker nLIGHT Corp. in Vancouver, Wash., is acquiring special fiber manufacturer Liekki Corp. in Lohja, Finland.

"The combination of our technology and teams will provide customers with a complete supply chain from semiconductor lasers and fibers to optical modules," says William Willson, managing director of the nLight Fiber Division. "Liekki will bring its experience in fibers and modules; a unique, patented direct nanoparticle deposition (DND) fiber technology process; and a specialized manufacturing facility, which scales efficiently."

The transaction is subject to customary closing conditions and is expected to be complete in the fourth quarter of 2007. Further terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
