This cable has been specially designed by PIC for airborne 10and 100 Base-T Local Area Network applications as definedby ARINC Specification 664. The twisted-pair constructioneffectively reduces inductive interference while 100% foiland 90% braided shielding serve to further protect againstEMI. The cable is also approved by Honeywell for airborneNTSC/PAL/RS170 camera video where a 100-ohm balancedline is required.Data transmission aboard aircraft faces more severe environmentaland EMI situations than conventional LAN systemsin commercial buildings, hence special measures have beentaken to preserve technical performance.Each conductor is surrounded by a foamed fluoropolymerdielectric having a high velocity of propagation which permitssmaller overall diameter and weight while retaining performanceand required operating parameters. Silver-platedcopper conductors and shielding assure uniform conductivitywith excellent solderability. A fluoropolymer jacket protectsthe cable against abrasion and environmental effects whilemaintaining flexibility for ease of installation.
