Curtiss-Wright Controls Satisfies Multiple Programs with Rapid Delivery of Rugged 24-channel GbE Switch Subsystem

July 16, 2013

CHARLOTTE, NC – July 10, 2013 – Curtiss-Wright Controls, Inc. today announced that it has delivered its SwitchBox™ SMS-684 24-Channel Gigabit Ethernet (GbE) Switch subsystems to two more leading military contractor customers under extremely short delivery turnaround requirements. The fully integrated subsystems will be deployed in highly demanding rugged environments on ground and air vehicles.

The SwitchBox SMS-684, the latest version of Curtiss-Wright’s popular GbE Switchbox product line, is lighter and more compact, with expanded features and an average 35% reduction in cost compared to earlier generations of the subsystem.

“We are very pleased that our industry-leading SwitchBox SMS-684 system is being selected as the best value choice for providing rugged Gigabit Ethernet switching for critical deployed applications,” said Tom Quinly, president of Curtiss-Wright Controls. “Furthermore, we are especially proud that we have been able to successfully meet stringent short delivery goals with rapid turnaround and shipment of our rugged off-the-shelf Ethernet switch and router technology.”

Because the proven and qualified COTS system is fully integrated and available off-the-shelf, Curtiss-Wright was able to satisfy both customers’ demanding delivery requirements, shipping units in less than three weeks from receipt of the orders.

“Our proven ability to supply advanced new COTS systems, such as our SwitchBox SMS-684 with short lead times helps speed deployment of critical solutions to our warfighters,” added Mr. Quinly. “Our customers are getting the message that if time is tight and you need it now, Curtiss-Wright is the partner you can count on.”

The Curtiss-Wright Controls Defense Solutions facility located in Santa Clarita, CA manufactures the leading SwitchBox SMS-684 units.
