Northrop Grumman experts are doing the work under a $1.1 million contract from the U.S. Air Force Research Laboratory Information Directorate in Rome, N.Y. The project is called Multi-Static Airborne Cooperative Engagement — otherwise known as MACE. Company scientists will use several different radar sensors to look at the same spot of ground at the same time to improve vehicular tracking. Northrop Grumman will collect data and do advanced signal processing on that data. Company engineers will examine four different signal-processing concepts to improve targeting based on actual radar data. — J.K.
