MONTREAL - Leaders of Virtual Prototypes Inc. in Montreal have begun shipping their three-dimensional software development tool for use on Silicon Graphics workstations.
Designated 3D Live, the tool is for applications requiring real-time, data-driven 3D displays using data from either user interaction or external sources, says Philippe Collard, Virtual Prototypes president.
Prices for the package begin at $20,000.
Examples of applications requiring the 3D capability, according to Collard, include tactical awareness such as synthetic vision displays for aircraft landing, missed approach and takeoffs.
Other applications include weapons delivery, submarine steering displays combined with modeling of underwater sensors, weapons, and underwater environments.
