Developers queried on VHDL evolution

Experts at VHDL International in Santa Clara, Calif., are releasing results of an industry poll devised to help determine how the VHSIC Hardware Description Language - better known as VHDL - should evolve. The survey of readers of the VHDL International quarterly publication "VHDL Times" found that designers predominantly use VHDL at the system level and before synthesis to verify designs. A follow-up question found that 50 percent of respondents use VHDL with vendor-supplied VITAL libraries for post-synthesis verification. The remaining use other solutions. About 200 of the 6,000 readers of "VHDL Times," responded the survey. - J.K.
