Ptech, Rational submit joint proposal for software standard

Leaders of Rational Software Corp. in Santa Clara, Calif., are joining with Ptech Inc. in Boston to submit a joint proposal to the Object Management Group (OMG) for an object analysis and design standard. Ptech, which develops an object-oriented business processing modeling and application development tool called Ptech Frame Work, submitted a proposal to the OMG last January in response to an OMB request for proposals. Rational, an object-oriented automated software engineering company, submitted a proposal at about the same time. Officials of the two companies agreed to integrate the initial Ptech proposal in to the revised Unified Modeling Language submission. - J.K.
