Sypris Electronics opens dedicated space facility

TAMPA, Fla., 24 August. Sypris Electronics, a subsidiary of Sypris Solutions, Inc., has announced the grand opening of its Space manufacturing facility. Sypris Electronics will be hosting a ribbon-cutting ceremony today for its new 10,000-square-foot. facility, completely dedicated to the production of spaceflight electronics. The new facility is part of the Company's 318,000-square-foot engineering and manufacturing operation in Tampa, Fla.

TAMPA, Fla., 24 August. Sypris Electronics, a subsidiary of Sypris Solutions, Inc., has announced the grand opening of its Space manufacturing facility. Sypris Electronics will be hosting a ribbon-cutting ceremony today for its new 10,000-square-foot. facility, completely dedicated to the production of spaceflight electronics. The new facility is part of the Company's 318,000-square-foot engineering and manufacturing operation in Tampa, Fla.

The space facility is certified to NASA-STD-8739 specifications and is staffed by employees averaging 13 years experience building defense and aerospace products.

Headlining the ribbon-cutting ceremony will be: Tampa Mayor Pam Iorio; U.S. Rep. Jim Davis (D-FL), 11th Congressional District; Sypris Solutions chairman, Bob Gill; Sypris Solutions chief executive officer, Jeff Gill; Lockheed Martin Commercial Space Systems (LMCSS) director of Government Programs, John Logrando; LMCSS subcontracts manager, Chuck Pergola; and Sypris Electronics president, Bob Sanders.

Logrando says "we have selected Sypris Electronics as a strategic manufacturer to produce key electronics assemblies for our commercial and military satellites. They achieved Supplier Excellence in 1999 for their Space manufacturing efforts and were recognized as a Star Supplier - Perfect Product in 2002. Sypris Electronics' new dedicated Space facility is a first-class operation."
