Mini-bar fiber-coupled laser modules for diode, fiber, and solid-state laser pumping introduced by DILAS

MAINZ, Germany, 10 June 2011. DILAS in Mainz, Germany, is introducing a laser mini-bar for high brightness fiber-coupling applications. The device can produce 135 Watts output from a 200-micron optical fiber at 976 nanometers. The tailored mini-bar architecture is for high-brightness output while maximizing fiber-coupling efficiency. DILAS designed the device to fit the optical parameter of the emission into the 200-micron fiber with inexpensive optics.
MAINZ, Germany, 10 June 2011. DILAS in Mainz, Germany, is introducing a laser mini-bar for high brightness fiber-coupling laser applications. The device can produce 135 Watts output from a 200-micron optical fiber at 976 nanometers.The tailored mini-bar architecture is for high-brightness output while maximizing fiber-coupling efficiency. DILAS designed the device to fit the optical parameter of the emission into the 200-micron fiber with inexpensive optics.The mini-bar is a monothical-multi single emitter source able to handle several emitters during manufacturing to minimize complexity and cost.

DILAS officials say they expect to offer similar devices in the future that emit 200- and 500-Watt 976-micron beams from 200-micron fiber. The devices are for direct diode applications as well as for fiber and solid-state laser pumping.
