EXTON, Pa., 28 July 2011.
Innovative Solutions & Support Inc. (NASDAQ:ISSC) won from the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) an order, valued at more than $5 million, for B737-400 systems integration and cockpit avionics upgrade. The company will retrofit two B737-400 aircraft with communications, navigation, surveillance/air traffic management (CNS/ATM) capabilities, as well as performance and efficiency similar to the NG (Next Generation).

The integration effort will eliminate legacy CRT (cathode ray tube) displays and avionics, leverage commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) technology, provide a platform for future upgrades, and deliver enhanced FMS, TCAS, EGPWS, NexRad, SatCom, and ADS-B capabilities.

The upgrade for the B737-300/-400/-500 series aircraft, as well as for the B757/B767, is a platform for compliance with NextGen and SESAR requirements; includes CPDLC, RNP, ADS-B, and In-Trail capabilities; provides power and weight savings; and reduces fuel consumption and CO2 emissions.

The Cockpit/IP for the B737 open-architecture, flat-panel display system enables operators to upgrade aircraft to a glass flight deck, while leaving third-party avionics installed in the aircraft.
