ND SatCom to deliver portable satcom terminals to U.S. Navy SPAWAR

BETZDORF, Luxembourg; 3 June 2008. SES ASTRA's subsidiary ND SatCom has been selected as a prime contractor for the U.S. Department of the Navy, Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center (SPAWAR) in Charleston, S.C. ND SatCom will deliver multiple portable satellite communication (satcom) terminals to the U.S. Navy.

SES ASTRA's subsidiary ND SatCom has been selected as a prime contractor for the U.S. Department of the Navy, Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center (SPAWAR) in Charleston, S.C. ND SatCom will deliver multiple portable satellite communication (satcom) terminals to the U.S. Navy.
The company's potential share of the contract award could reach up to approximately $51 million in the first year, with the opportunity to secure orders totalling $289 million over five years, if all options are exercised. In total, seven different companies were selected to contribute to the program. The initial requirements and delivery schedules are currently being determined.
Christopher Morris, president and CEO of ND SatCom Inc. in the U.S., says: "The importance of this contract is that, for the first time in our history, we now have the status of being a recognized defense contractor in the U.S., which will complement our existing and successful installations with other government entities in our served market. This represents a milestone achievement for ND SatCom in the U.S. market, and demonstrates our commitment to supplying high-quality terminals for the government and military."
