BERLIN, 4 Dec. 2006. Lumics GmbH in Berlin announced the release of its LU1000F015 OEM fiber laser series with 15-Watt optical output power. The product is part of a new line of continuous wave fiber laser assemblies with as much as 50 Watts of optical output power.

The fiber laser is using Lumics's new pump laser chip generation with more than 60 percent electrical-to-optical power conversion efficiency.

The LU1000F provides high single-mode beam quality in a building-block architecture for fiber laser OEMs and systems integrators in industrial applications.

The fiber laser unit is housed in a milled alumina metal housing with an electrical connector interface and a 6/25-micron single mode fiber output. The operating voltage is specified with typically 13 volts. The drive current is typically 6 amps.

The unit is air cooled, and its operating temperature range is from 10 to 35 degree Celsius. It measures 235 by 225 by 30 millimeters.

Fiber lasers offer many advantages over conventional laser technology such as high single-mode beam quality, no maintenance, building-block scalability and reliability leading to a lower total cost of ownership. Fiber lasers have the power and precision for many different applications from product marking to soldering and cutting/welding. Their compact size enables them to be easily integrated into existing equipment.
