CARLSBAD, Calif., 15 Aug. 2007.ViaSat Inc. has been selected by the National Security Agency (NSA) to manufacture its KG-200 and KG-201 In-Line Media Encryptors (IMEs) and to develop additional Data At Rest (DAR) security products to meet the needs of the Department of Defense user community.

The KG-200 and KG-201 are NSA-certified to secure data up to Top Secret/SCI, transparently encrypting and decrypting data written to and read from a computer's storage media (also referred to as data at rest). The KG-200 is designed for desktop PCs; the KG-201 for laptop PCs and other mobile computing platforms.

ViaSat Inc. is working with high value data users to conceptualize and develop the next generation of IME and DAR security products. An immediate focus is on smaller, more durable, lower-cost IME variants, while longer term innovations will address next-generation products for both tailored and broad spectrum secure storage.

"Manufacturing the KG-200 and KG-201 will enable us to leverage this technology with our proven, innovative approach to Information Assurance, providing a new generation of secure storage systems to the DoD and its partners," says Jerry Goodwin, vice president and general manager of ViaSat's Tactical Networking and Information Assurance business unit. "This award expands our portfolio of high assurance security products and will ultimately provide new capabilities to the warfighter."
