HARRISBURG, Pa., 12 Nov. 2007. Tyco Electronics in Harrisburg, Pa., has reached agreement with Huber+Suhner in Stockholm, Sweden, to become an alternative source for OutDoor connector (ODC) fiber optic connector cable assemblies.

The ODC connector and supporting optical cable is rapidly becoming the standard connector interface specified in 3G, 4G and WiMax Base Station remote radios and fiber-to-the-antenna applications.

With this agreement, Tyco Electronics can expand the ODC connector brand globally while providing customers with identical high quality products, regardless of the manufacturing source. Tyco Electronics and the Huber+Suhner Group will work together to expand the ODC product line.

The ODC product range incorporates precision machined rugged brass housings with two or four optical terminations in both single-mode and multimode fibers. The environmentally sealed, fixed and free connectors are supported by a range of crush resistant, high tensile strength tactical style cables.

Tyco Electronics will commence supply of ODC cable assemblies January 2008, following compatibility and interoperability qualification with Huber+Suhner.
