HAUPPAUGE, N.Y., 20 Sept. 2007. Globecomm Systems Inc., a provider of satellite-based communications infrastructure solutions and services, has been awarded a $2.5 million contract to provide tracking telemetry and control (TT&C) infrastructure in Asia.

Globecomm will provide the customer with turnkey satellite infrastructure at two locations in Asia supporting the overall TT&C system.

TT&C systems enable satellite operators to monitor and control satellites by transmitting and receiving signals to/from on-board computer systems. This allows operators to continually monitor the health and status of on-board electronics, control the position and orientation of the satellite in orbit, and change the configuration of the communications systems as needed.

The company anticipates that both sites will be completely operational by the third quarter ending March 31, 2008.
