Airmar rolls out zinc-alloy, gold-pin NMEA 2000 connectors for harsh environments
MILFORD, N.H. - Airmar Technology Corporation in Milford, N.H., has introduced a new line of NMEA 2000-approved cables and connectors designed to deliver long-term reliability, durability, and full standards compliance for marine electronics networks.
The new product line is engineered for modern onboard systems and features metal connectors made from zinc alloy with gold-plated pins to ensure secure electrical connections in harsh marine environments. The company says the materials and construction are intended to improve resistance to corrosion, vibration, and signal degradation in real-world operating conditions.
Airmar’s offering supports the NMEA 2000 protocol, a Controller Area Network (CAN)-based architecture widely used to interconnect marine sensors, navigation systems, and onboard electronics through a shared backbone. The company said its cables and connectors are fully compliant with the standard and compatible with all NMEA 2000-certified devices.
The product range includes key backbone components such as drop cables, tee connectors, terminators, power tees, and field-attachable connectors, enabling system integrators to build, expand, or service distributed marine networks. These components are designed to maintain proper network topology and impedance control, which are critical for reliable data transmission across NMEA 2000 systems.
