NEW ALBANY, Ind. - Samtec Inc. in New Albany, Ind., has announced production availability of new single-ended and mixed signaling configurations for its AcceleRate Slim (ARC6) cable assemblies, expanding design flexibility for high-density system architectures, FPGA prototyping and emulation, and MIPI-based applications.

The AcceleRate Slim (ARC6) cable assembly features an ultra-narrow 7.6 millimeter body width and direct-attach contacts that solder directly to the cable. This approach eliminates the need for a transition card, shortening the transmission path to improve signal integrity. Previously offered only in differential pair configurations supporting 64 Gbps PAM4, PCIe 6.0, and CXL 3.2, the ARC6 family now includes two additional signaling options:

  • ARC6 (-S): single-ended, 50 Ohm (5 Gbps NRZ)
ARC6 (-M): mixed signaling combining single-ended 50 Ohm and differential pair 92 Ohm

These additions enable engineers to integrate both high-speed and lower-speed signaling within a single cable assembly, supporting increasingly heterogeneous system requirements.

All ARC6 cable assemblies incorporate Samtec’s Eye Speed ultra-low skew cable technology. The single-ended micro coax cable has a 0.024 inch outer diameter to simplify routing in dense systems, while the differential pair twinax cable offers skew performance of 3.5 picoseconds per meter maximum with a 40 percent smaller cross-sectional area compared to earlier Eye Speed designs. The reduced size lowers weight and improves airflow in space-constrained applications.

The assemblies also include an integrated flexible strain relief for rugged reliability and a metal latching system that secures the connection to the mating ARF6 board connector.

The ARC6 platform is part of Samtec’s Flyover cable solutions, which enable designers to route signals from mid-board locations near processing devices to front-panel or backplane interfaces. The system supports configurable end options, allowing different connector types at each end of the cable for application-specific designs.
