Kvaser introduces four-channel LIN interface for HIL and embedded system testing

MÖLNDAL, Sweden - Kvaser has introduced the PCIe 4xLIN, a four-channel LIN interface card designed for electronic control unit (ECU) development, hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing, and industrial communication applications requiring synchronized network analysis.

The low-profile PCI Express card provides four individually galvanically isolated LIN channels in a single interface, enabling engineers to monitor and validate multiple LIN networks within desktop, industrial, and test-bench environments.

The PCIe 4xLIN uses FPGA-based Kvaser LIN-IP technology to support LIN communication rates up to 20 kbaud and provides timestamp resolution down to 1 microsecond, allowing developers to capture timing-sensitive events during system validation and debugging.

The interface supports simultaneous operation with multiple Kvaser communication interfaces, enabling larger test configurations as system complexity increases. The card is compatible with applications developed using Kvaser's LINlib API and integrates with the company's CANlib SDK, which supports programming languages including C, C++, C#, Python, Delphi, and Visual Basic.

The PCIe 4xLIN also supports Kvaser's TimeSync technology for synchronized timestamps across multiple devices and systems. On Linux platforms, the interface provides a Precision Hardware Clock (PHC) device that can synchronize with host clock sources using standard tools such as phc2sys, enabling synchronized logging and automated test applications.

Designed for embedded and industrial environments, the PCIe 4xLIN operates across a temperature range of -40 to +85 degrees Celsius. The card installs directly into a PCI Express slot and uses a single 26-pin high-density D-sub connector for access to all four LIN channels.
