BAE Systems launches compact Shadow EW solutions for small airborne platforms
NASHUA, N.H. - BAE Systems has launched Shadow EW, a family of compact, low-size, weight, and power (SWaP) electronic warfare (EW) solutions designed to provide situational awareness and self-defense capabilities for small airborne platforms operating in contested environments.
The Shadow EW product family is designed for high-volume production and rapid integration across a range of aircraft and other small airborne platforms. The systems use commercial microchips for high-performance computing and supply chain efficiency, while open-architecture standards and software-defined capabilities enable field upgrades and adaptation to evolving threats.
Shadow EW solutions support EW missions including situational awareness, targeting, deception, survivability, and collaborative effects delivery. The hardware is configurable, while iterative software updates are intended to help operators respond to changing threats and mission requirements.
BAE Systems says the family is designed to provide affordable EW capabilities for mass applications, supported by the company's high-volume manufacturing capabilities. Production will take place at BAE Systems facilities in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, with software development and design work in Nashua, N.H.
