DC-DC converter with 96 percent efficiency for military and aerospace power applications offered by Vicor

The DCM5614 has 96 percent efficiency to reduce power dissipation, and its VIA package enables several different cooling approaches.

ANDOVER, Mass. – Vicor Corp. in Andover, Mass., is introducing the DCM5614 isolated, regulated 270- and 28-volt DC-DC converter for advanced airborne, shipboard, and unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) systems where power density, weight, and efficiency are critical.

The DCM5614 power supply offers an output power rating of 1300 Watts in a VIA package that measures 5.6 by 1.4 by 0.3 inches, a power density of 451 Watts per cubic inch, and weight of 6.3 ounces.

The DCM5614 has 96 percent efficiency to reduce power dissipation. An innovative planar and thermally adept VIA package enables several different cooling strategies for enhanced thermal performance.

Users also can parallel modules for increased power, or stacked the modules for increased output voltage.
