IRWINDALE, Calif., 10 Oct. 2010. Falcon Electric Inc. in Irwindale, Calif., this week is introducing the SSG-RP Series ultra-wide-temperature uninterruptible power supply (UPS) series that operate in temperatures from -30 to 65 degrees Celsius for applications where temperature control is a problem. The SSG-RP Series offers models from 1 to 3 kilovolt-amperes (kVA). The SSG-RP Ultra has been redesigned to meet even more demanding temperature extremes than the Falcon Electric commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) UPS series introduced in 2007. The SSG-RP rugged UPS series offers models from 1 to 3 kilovolt-amperes (kVA).

The SSG-RP Ultra has been redesigned to meet even more demanding temperature extremes than the Falcon Electric commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) UPS series introduced in 2007. The SSG-RP Ultra has been redesigned to meet even more demanding temperature extremes. The latest UPS has a high-temperature LED display, upgraded internal components, and special batteries with wide operational temperature ranges.

The SSG-RP Series ultra-wide-temperature UPS's batteries come packaged in a separate 2U enclosure and are hot-swappable, which means batteries may swapped in while the UPS is still in use. The wide-temperature range Cyclone batteries used have a projected 10-year service life when installed at room temperature and a projected one-year life when installed in a location with ambient heat at 55 C.

For unattended OS shutdown and easy monitoring of the UPS system, Falcon's UPSilon shutdown and management software supports Windows platforms, including Vista, as well as Novell NetWare 5 & 6, Linux, and FreeBSD. UPSilon for UNIX is available at an additional cost and supports most popular UNIX platform and OS versions.

For remote monitoring and management of industrial networks, including humidity, smoke, physical entry, and water detection, users may purchase an optional USHA SNMP/HTTP agent board that installs directly inside the UPS, providing a TCP-IP addressable, 10/100 Ethernet communication node. The USHA supports IPv4, IPv6, SNMPv3, and RADIUS.
