MANSFIELD, Mass., 29 July 2010. Murata Power Solutions Inc. in Mansfield, Mass., is introducing the HPQ-12/25-D48 300-Watt high power quarter-brick isolated DC-DC converter with 12-volt output for applications ranging from industrial and instrumentation to computers and office equipment.

Ripple and noise specifications for the power electronics device assure compatibility with circuits using CPUs, ASICs, programmable logic, and FPGAs. For battery-powered and telecommunications equipment, applications for the HPQ-12/25-D48 include small instruments, area-limited microcontrollers, data communications equipment, remote sensor systems, vehicle and portable electronics.

The power supply has a wide 2:1 input range of 36 to 75 volts and output of 12 volts, plus high output current as high as 25 amps in an industry-standard quarter-brick package measuring 2.3 by 1.45 by 0.44 inches. The HPQ-12/25-D48 has efficiency as high as 94.5 percent. The HPQ-12/25-D48 operates within the industrial temperature range of -40 to 85 degrees Celsius.

For systems requiring controlled startup/shutdown, remote on/off control is available with negative or positive polarity. Users also can trim the output voltage of the HPQ-12/25-D48 up or down by plus-or-minus 10 percent with an external trim resistor. It also offers input-output isolation with basic insulation to 2,250 volts DC.

The power supply is designed to meet UL/EN/IEC 60950-1 2nd edition safety approvals and is RoHS-6 compliant. Optional has include: a baseplate, which boosts the HPQ-12/25-D48's impressive thermal performance; conformal coating; trim and sense functionality; and various pin lengths.
