MONTREAL - Volatus Aerospace Inc., a Canadian developer of uncrewed aircraft systems in Oro-Medonte, Ontario, and VoltaXplore Inc., a high-performance lithium-ion battery manufacturer and subsidiary of NanoXplore Inc. in the Montreal metropolitan area, said they have signed a Letter of Intent to supply Canadian-made batteries for Volatus’ next-generation drones.

The agreement aims to strengthen Volatus’ supply chain, support domestic sourcing, and boost capabilities across civil, defense, and Arctic surveillance markets. The drones will use silicon-dominant lithium-ion cells produced in VoltaXplore’s 1 MWh Montreal facility, operational since 2022. The batteries are designed to provide longer endurance, faster charging, and improved cold-weather performance.

"Volatus is proud to partner with VoltaXplore to secure a 100% Canadian supply of next-generation batteries for our UAV platforms," said Glen Lynch, CEO of Volatus Aerospace. "This partnership ensures the entire value chain, from advanced materials to finished aircraft, remains in Canada, building domestic aerospace capacity and strengthening our defense industrial base."
