Summary points:

  • KYOCERA AVX introduces the KGP Series commercial-grade stacked capacitors for high-frequency applications in industrial and downhole oil and gas markets.
  • The capacitors deliver higher capacitance values in the same mounting area as traditional capacitors, with low ESR and ESL to minimize noise and improve performance.
  • Available in several EIA case sizes and dielectrics, the KGP Series capacitors operate from -55 to 125 degrees Celsius, are RoHS compliant, and can withstand thermal and mechanical stress.

FOUNTAIN INN, S.C. – KYOCERA AVX Components Corp. in Fountain Inn, S.C., is introducing the KGP series of commercial-grade stacked capacitors for high-frequency devices in power supplies, DC-DC converters, control circuits, high-voltage coupling, and DC blocking for industrial and downhole oil and gas applications.

The commercial-grade KGP series deliver higher capacitance values in the same mounting area as traditional capacitors to support miniaturization.

These capacitors are manufactured without lead or cadmium and ease standards compliance. They also exhibit low equivalent series resistance (ESR) and inductance (ESL) to minimize noise and optimize performance. They feature metal lead frames that reliably suppress thermal and mechanical stress to ensure stability and durability.

High-temperature devices

KGP series high-temperature stacked multilayer ceramic capacitors are available in five EIA case sizes: 1210, 1812, 1825, 2220, and 2225. They offer two stack sizes, and maximum thicknesses spanning 3.4 to 6.95 millimeters, and "J" or "L" leads.

They also are available in three dielectrics: C0G, X7R, and X7T. The series is rated for operating voltages spanning 50 to 1,500 volts, capacitance values ranging from 10 to 47 nanofarads with plus-Or-minus 10 or 20 percent capacitance tolerance. Capacitors operate in temperatures from -55 to 125 degrees Celsius.

All parts are tested for visual characteristics, capacitance values, dissipation factor, temperature coefficient, insulation resistance, dielectric strength, temperature cycling, steady state and load humidity, high temperature load, termination strength, bending, vibration resistance, and soldering heat resistance. They also are RoHS compliant and packaged on tape and reel in quantities of 500-1,500 for automated placement.
