MALVERN, Pa. - Vishay Intertechnology Inc. in Malvern, Pa., has introduced a space-grade, surface-mount common-mode choke designed to provide electromagnetic interference filtering and noise suppression in space, aerospace, and defense applications.

The SGCM05339 from Vishay Custom Magnetics targets GaN and SiC switching applications, where fast switching edges can generate significant radiated emissions. The device is also intended for use in low-profile, high-current power supplies, DC/DC converters in distributed power architectures, and power converters for solar arrays.

To address harsh operating environments, the self-shielded choke incorporates a nanocrystalline core and an overmolded, ruggedized construction. The device provides high impedance across extended frequencies and supports heat rating current up to 14.43 A, with an operating temperature range from -55 to 130 C.

The SGCM05339 is outgassing compliant per ASTM-E595 and is available with screening options including MIL-PRF-27 Grade 5 Product Level T Temperature Class S, MIL-STD-981 Family-4 Class S, and EEE-INST-002. The device offers a dielectric withstand voltage of 1000 VRMS and insulation resistance of 10 GΩ minimum at 500 VDC.

Electrical performance includes inductance per winding from 320 µH to 10,400 µH, typical common mode impedance from 540 to 3600 ohms, and maximum DC resistance from 0.0029 to 0.1318 ohms per winding. Heat rating current ranges from 2.02 A to 14.43 A, while maximum leakage inductance ranges from 0.35 µH to 7.75 µH.

The component can be customized by turn count, wire gauge, and other parameters to meet specific application requirements.
