New Altech relays support up to 48 I/Os with ladder logic and Modbus integration

The company’s smart relays are available in alternating current (AC) and direct current (DC) base versions and are intended to support real-time monitoring and control applications where compact size and rapid deployment are critical.

MORRISTOWN, N.J. - Altech Corporation in Morristown, N.J., a supplier of industrial control and automation components, is offering a line of smart relays and multi-timers designed to streamline installation, simplify programming, and enable scalable control for small- to mid-size automation systems.

The company’s smart relays are available in alternating current (AC) and direct current (DC) base versions and are intended to support real-time monitoring and control applications where compact size and rapid deployment are critical. Each unit is housed in a 72 x 90 x 65 millimeter enclosure and is designed for snap-on installation on standard DIN rails, reducing setup time and mechanical complexity.

Altech says the relays are delivered ready for immediate use and include free configuration software that allows users to generate programs, project simulations, and documentation without requiring prior programming experience. The devices also support the Modbus communication protocol through an optional communication module, enabling high-speed data exchange and interoperability with a wide range of third-party industrial equipment.

The smart relay platform is configured with eight inputs and four outputs as standard and can be expanded using up to three additional modules. In full configuration, the system supports up to 48 inputs and outputs, including 32 digital inputs and 16 digital outputs. This modular architecture is intended to allow engineers to scale systems as application requirements change without redesigning the core control hardware.

Programming capability includes up to 250 lines of ladder logic and a range of integrated functions such as 16 timers, 16 counters, 16 time switches, 16 compare counters, 16 soft text messages, 64 auxiliary relays, and 12 analog comparators. A backlit liquid crystal display (LCD) provides visual access to function blocks, input/output status, and programming parameters. The system also includes a daylight saving time (DST) feature.

In addition to the smart relay line, Altech offers a universal multi-timer designed for compact control applications. The device supports two or 10 timing functions with a timing range from 0.1 seconds to 100 hours. It includes light-emitting diode (LED) indicators for power and relay status and is designed for DIN rail mounting in a 17.5 millimeter-wide housing.
