WASHINGTON, 7 July 2005. U.S. Navy officials are looking to Raytheon Solipsys Integrated Defense Systems in Laurel, Md., to upgrade the visualization software for an important air-tracking system.

The Naval Sea Systems Command in Washington is set to award a sole-source contract to Raytheon Solipsys for software upgrades to the Tactical Display Framework (TDF), which consists of the Data Distribution System and the Range Mission Tool.

The TDF is a component-based all-Java library and visualization system for real-time and near-real-time tactical and time-critical applications such as the Navy's Cooperative Engagement Capability (CEC) system.

The CEC distributes radar and other sensor and weapons data from existing systems by fusing high-quality tracking data from participating sensors and distributing it to other networked participants using identical algorithms to create one common air defense tactical display.

The result is an air picture based on all sensor data available that permits early detection and consistent tracking of air contacts, especially cruise missiles in coastal waters.

The Raytheon Solipsys TDF software product is a portable, adaptable, object-oriented visualization system that meets or exceeds requirements of the tactical user for command and control (C2), air defense, situation awareness, weapons control, and sensor management.

Raytheon Solipsys designed and developed the Data Distribution System and the Range Mission Tool, and is the only known firm with the knowledge and expertise in the defense and intelligence community, and a broad base of experience in providing support to the Aegis ballistic missile defense and the Missile Defense Agency, Navy officials say.

Naval Sea Systems Command will award a one-year contract, with three one-year options. No contract amount was released. The solicitation number is N0002405R6101.

Companies interested in subcontracting opportunities should contact Raytheon Solipsys directly, Navy officials say. For more information contact Raytheon Solipsys online at www.solipsys.com.
