LANCASTER, Pa., 2 May 2005. Herley Industries, Inc. announced has received contract awards totaling $3 million to supply microwave technology for two separate U.S. defense programs.

Herley won a $1.2 million contract award for Integrated Microwave Assemblies (IMA) for a Radar Warning Receiver (RWR)/Electronic Warfare Management System (EWMS). This system provides both RWR and EW management for fixed wing, rotary wing, tilt rotor and transport aircraft. This award is the second release of a five-year Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) award. Herley has been a supplier to the U.S. Government for these IMAs since 1996.

The company also won a $1.8 million contract award to supply radio beacons for the U.S. Navy's F/A 18 E/F "Super Hornet" aircraft. This is a priority program for the Navy beginning with an initial contract for 222 "Super Hornets." The Navy has awarded Boeing a five-year follow-on procurement through GFY 2009. Herley is working with Sierra Nevada Corp., the prime contractor on the APN-245 landing system.

"We are pleased that bookings continue to be a good mix of legacy and new business. Our business development efforts have emphasized new opportunities and we seem to be producing wins. Both of the above contract awards are multi-year and reflect Herley's strategy to attack growing market segments where we have competitive advantages," said John M. Kelley, Herley's president.

"We are already seeing the benefits from our two recent acquisitions, Micro Systems (MSI) and Innovative Concepts (ICI). Micro Systems has an excellent reputation and has been assigned the lead to expand Herley's presence in the command & control market. Innovative Concepts has strong software capabilities that Herley will use to expand into next- generation applications. ICI has developed a suite of data communications products called IDM Technology. IDM Technology remedies data communication problems within the military. Through IDM Technology, all aspects of the battlefield -- aviation units, ground forces, and ship borne systems -- can communicate using one seamless communication solution."
