WALLINGFORD, Conn., 29 Jan. 2014. Times Microwave Systems in Wallingford, Conn., is introducing Times-Protect LP-SPT RF surge-protection tester for test & measurement of lightning-protection devices and components.

The LP-SPT provides the user with the capability to test any lightning-protection device or component to ensure its proper functioning and capability to protect critical and expensive RF equipment, company officials say. Weighing 16 ounces and powered by two 9-volt batteries, the ruggedized hand-held unit is portable for field use.

The LP-SPT unit has two terminals, N male and N female, to support testing in-line RF surge-protection devices and can test surge protectors with any other interfaces by using commonly available RF adaptors.

The unit measures 9 by 4 by 1 1/2 inches and comes with a heavy duty nylon carrying case, batteries, instructions, and a set of alligator clips for testing surge-protection components such as MOVs, diodes, and gas tubes. The LP-SPT is made in the U.S.
