SAN FRANCISCO, 14 June 2006. The 2006 IEEE MTT-S International Microwave Symposium (IMS) is underway at San Francisco's Moscone Convention Center. The exhibition portion of the annual event opened yesterday morning, welcoming more than 12,000 industry attendees from 39 countries.

The exhibit hall this year boasts more than 900 exhibit booths, whereas the conference program incorporates accepted technical papers from 32 different countries. Although U.S. attendees make up roughly 37 percent of the audience, the event is experiencing rapid growth in Asian attendees. According to a representative, MTT-S is experiencing significant growth in membership in Asia, and Asia marks the fastest growing segment of the microwave industry as a whole.
