Northrop Grumman awarded $620.8 million in contracts for Global Hawk UAV and signals intelligence UAV payloads

Aerospace Systems segment in San Diego will provide the U.S. Air Force with four RQ-4 Global Hawk high-altitude, long-endurance unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), airborne signals intelligence payloads for the Global Hawk UAVs, and advanced-procurement finding for Global Hawk UAVs under terms contracts totaling $620.8 million, announced Tuesday.

WRIGHT-PATTERSON AFB, Ohio, 19 May 2010. Systems designers at the Northrop Grumman Corp. Aerospace Systems segment in San Diego will provide the U.S. Air Force with four RQ-4 Global Hawk high-altitude, long-endurance unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), airborne signals intelligence payloads for the Global Hawk UAVs, and advanced-procurement finding for Global Hawk UAVs under terms contracts totaling $620.8 million, announced Tuesday.

Northrop Grumman will provide two Global Hawk Block 30 UAVs, two Global Hawk Block 40 UAVs, and support services under terms of a $303.3 million contract. Next, Northrop Grumman won a $287.4 million contract for two in-line airborne signals intelligence payloads (ASIPs) and three ASIP retrofit kits for the Global Hawk.

Finally, Northrop Grumman won a $30 million contract for congressionally mandated advance procurement associated with two Block 30 and two Block 40 Global Hawk UAVs; two in-line ASIPs; two multi-platform radar technology insertion program sensors; two in-line sensors; and related items for Lot 10 Global Hawk procurement.

The Northrop Grumman ASIP is a family of signals intelligence (SIGINT) sensors for Global Hawk, the U-2 reconnaissance aircraft, the U.S. Army's RC-12 Guardrail aircraft, as well as the MQ-1 Predator and MQ-9 Reaper UAVs.
