SAN DIEGO – TDK-Lambda Americas Inc. in San Diego is introducing the KAS series AC-DC power supplies for security systems, building automation, and products requiring a separate standby voltage.

These power supplies are rated at two and four Watts, and accept inputs of 90 to 305 volts AC at 47 to 440 Hz, and operate from 155 to 230 volts and 277-volt nominal inputs.

The series has a double-insulated class II construction, requiring no Earth ground connection, and has a 3,000-volt AC primary to secondary isolation. Available output voltages are 3.3, 5, 8, 9, 12, 14, 15, and 24 volts. They have no-load power consumption of less than 300 milliwatts.

The KAS units are encapsulated in plastic resin fiberglass cases, providing additional protection against shock and vibration. The 2-Watt KAS2 measures 28.5 by 25.8 by 17.0 millimeters and the 4-Watt KAS4 measures 37.0 by 27.5 by 17.5 millimeters.

The KAS2 will operate in ambient temperatures of -40 to 80 degrees Celsius, derating linearly to 40 percent load above 60 C. The KAS4 has a temperature range to -40 to 70 C, with model dependent derating.

All the power supplies are certified to IEC/EN/UL/CSA 60950-1 and are designed to meet IEC/EN 60335-1 with CE marking for the low voltage and RoHS2 directives. The series complies to EN 55032-B (radiated and conducted) and will meet EN 55024 immunity standards with an external varistor.
