LYNRED debuts DRACO MW SL for long-range MWIR imaging

Built on the company's Type II Superlattice (T2SL) infrared technology, DRACO MW SL operates at 130 Kelvin and is designed to provide high image stability, sensitivity and extended operational life while supporting size, weight and power (SWaP) requirements for military imaging systems.

GRENOBLE, France - LYNRED in Grenoble, France, has introduced the DRACO MW SL, a cooled midwave infrared (MWIR) detector designed for land-based surveillance and counter-uncrewed aircraft system (C-UAS) applications requiring long-range thermal imaging in compact electro-optical systems.

The detector combines an SXGA 1280-by-1024-pixel format with a 7.5-micron pixel pitch and operates across the full MWIR spectral band from 3.7 to 4.8 microns. Built on the company's Type II Superlattice (T2SL) infrared technology, DRACO MW SL operates at 130 Kelvin and is designed to provide high image stability, sensitivity and extended operational life while supporting size, weight and power (SWaP) requirements for military imaging systems.

According to LYNRED, the detector's higher-resolution format is intended to improve detection, recognition and identification performance while expanding the field of view, making it suitable for applications that must monitor both ground and aerial targets. Full-band MWIR operation is also designed to improve performance in photon-limited environments, including cold or humid conditions.

DRACO MW SL is compatible with LYNRED's PlugUp platform, which standardizes electrical and mechanical interfaces for the company's cooled infrared detectors. The platform is intended to simplify integration into original equipment manufacturer (OEM) camera systems while reducing development time through a common architecture and split linear cooler design.

The detector delivers a 60-Hz frame rate and joins LYNRED's family of cooled infrared detectors, including the GALATEA SL, EOLE, SEEGNUS SL and ARGO SL product lines.
