PALO ALTO, Calif., 12 April 2006. Agilent Technologies Inc. has made available its precision optics design and manufacturing capability--an internal resource for more than 35 years--to external customers.
Agilent developed the ability to produce precise optical components and opto-mechanical assemblies to support its laser interferometer business.
Agilent offers custom capabilities for flat and monolithic optics, starting with design services.
"We are not new to the precision-optics business, but until now our expertise has been mostly locked up within Agilent and only available to support our internal products," says Vince Barich, Precision Optics operations manager.
Precision optics are used in a variety of products, many for growing nanotechnology applications, and include optical fabrication equipment, lasers, astronomy, metrology systems, process-control systems, optical test and measurement equipment, lithography systems, medical and scientific instruments, and interferometers.
