DIGISTOR solid-state-drives meet cyber security and encryption standards for secure data storage devices
VANCOUVER, Wash. – DIGISTOR, a CRU Data Security Group (CDSG) company in Vancouver, Wash., is announcing that the company's pre-boot authentication portion of its Citadel C series solid-state drives is listed on the National Information Assurance Partnership (NIAP) Common Criteria Products in Evaluation List for cyber security and encryption.
NIAP is responsible for the U.S. implementation of the international Common Criteria set of data security standards. The evaluation and full NIAP listing for the Cigent pre-boot authentication is expected later this year.
This means the Citadel C series secure data storage system will have NIAP-listed solid-state drives and pre-boot authentication, making it suitable for critical infrastructure companies, industry, military, and government agencies that require high data security levels.
NIAP certification is a commercial cyber security product certification mandated by federal procurement requirements (CNSSP 11) for use in U.S. national security systems, as information systems operated by the U.S. government, contractors for the government, or agents that contain classified information. These systems may involve intelligence, cryptographic, command and control, and weapons.
The listing is the first step that brings the DIGISTOR Citadel C series pre-boot authentications closer to full Common Criteria validation. Once the pre-boot authentication is on the NIAP product compliant list, it will be eligible for listing on the NSA Commercial Solutions for Classified Program (CSfC) components list.
The DIGISTOR solid-state drives used as the basis for Citadel C series solid-state drives are already on the NIAP PRODUCT COMPLIANT LIST and the NSA's CSfC components list.
The C series built-in pre-boot authentication unlocks access to the encrypted operating system on the Citadel solid-state drive, as well as its stored data. This secured data is encrypted by NSA-approved Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) 256-bit encryption at the hardware level. Once booted, Citadel allows no-overhead, hardware-speed access to encrypted data at the full performance of the system.
