AAI Unmanned Aircraft Systems selects TECOM for Expeditionary Ground Control Station contract

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif., 23 Oct. 2012. TECOM Industries Inc. won a $12 million firm-fixed-price contract from AAI Unmanned Aircraft Systems, an operating unit of Textron Systems, a Textron Inc. Company, to provide portable ground-control stations.

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif., 23 Oct. 2012. TECOM Industries Inc. won a $12 million firm-fixed-price contract from AAI Unmanned Aircraft Systems, an operating unit of Textron Systems, a Textron Inc. Company, to provide portable ground-control stations.

TECOM Industries staff will produce Expeditionary Ground Control Station (EGCS) portable command and control stations to support AAI's Aerosonde small unmanned aircraft systems (SUAS). The contract award supports the U.S. Navy Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) services, which encompass land- and sea-based unmanned aircraft vehicle (UAV) operations for the U.S. Navy, Marine Corps, and Air Force.

"We understand the critical capabilities the EGCS station brings to the warfighter and are proud to be on this team," says Gene Joles, TECOM president.

TECOM Industries Inc., part of Smiths Interconnect, provides high-performance antennas and antenna systems for aerospace, defense, and commercial wireless applications, such as telemetry, electronic warfare, and broadband communications in harsh environments.
