COLUMBIA, Md., 27 Aug. 2009. SAT Corp., a wholly owned subsidiary of Integral Systems Inc., and partner, TCI Corp. provided radio-frequency (RF) clearance and deconfliction support for the 5th Biennial Unmanned Systems Demonstration at the Patuxent River Naval Air Station, Webster Field Annex. The event featured live demonstrations of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and unmanned ground vehicles (UGVs) in a demanding environment: an operational environment consisting of more than 20 ground and air systems demonstrations.

Specializing in RF monitoring, interference detection, and geolocation for more than 20 years, SAT Corp. deployed its SigMon Interference Detection system to provide surveillance and characterization of the RF environment before and during the demonstration. The data collected by the SigMon system in the demanding environments helped to ensure that RF interference did not impact the live demonstration at Webster Field Annex and assisted range personnel in ensuring the safe operation and demonstration of the unmanned systems.

"The SAT SigMon system performed exceptionally during all phases of the pre-show testing and during the live demonstrations and proved to be a valuable tool for monitoring and validating safe airspace from an RF perspective," says Scott Herrick, director of Government Business Development at Integral Systems. "The combined SAT and TCI capabilities represent a truly complementary partnership that produces a significant capability to our potential customers. We see the demand for tools such as SigMon to continue to grow as the employment of unmanned systems continues its upward trend."

SAT Corp.'s solutions deliver operators and frequency managers RF situational awareness that will enable them to take proactive measures before interference causes an unmanned system to crash, go out of control, or transition to lost link profile, says a representative.
