SAINT-PREX, Switzerland, 6 Sept. 2009. Fischer Connectors SA in Saint-Prex, Switzerland is introducing a family of connectors and cable assembly products for unmanned vehicle applications -- particularly for unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) uses.

Fischer is offering lightweight aluminum connectors, hermetic connectors, cable assemblies, and over-molded military connectors for surveillance systems, UAVs, and other unmanned vehicles.

Other applications for these connectors include guided weapons, cruise missiles, video surveillance equipment, special forces equipment, night vision systems, communication systems, rugged computers, intrusion detectors, and missile systems.

One member of the military interconnect family is the Fischer AluLite series for UAVs and surveillance systems, which is aluminum-engineered using an anticorrosive alloy in non-reflective camouflage colors, the AluLite offers strength to weight ratio and the ability to withstand harsh environments. It is 360 degrees EMC shielded and sealed up to IP68 or even hermetic.

For frequent connect/disconnect operations or blind mating, the plugs and receptacles are engineered to endure 10,000 mating cycles within a temperature range of -50 to 150 degrees Celsius.
