Drone Nerds adds DBOX autonomous drone docking system

The system is intended for applications including drone-as-first-responder operations, incident response, search and rescue, area surveillance, perimeter monitoring and remote situational awareness.

DALLAS - Drone Nerds, a subsidiary of XTI Aerospace, has partnered with DBOX to distribute the DBOX PRT autonomous drone docking system to U.S. public safety and government customers.

The DBOX PRT combines a fixed docking station, networking equipment, compatible aircraft, and DBOX Ground Control Software to support remotely managed and repeatable aerial missions. The system is intended for applications including drone-as-first-responder operations, incident response, search and rescue, area surveillance, perimeter monitoring and remote situational awareness.

The PRT is designed to operate with the Parrot ANAFI UKR, ANAFI UKR GOV and ANAFI UKR XLR aircraft. The ANAFI UKR family supports multiple communications links, including Wi-Fi, LoRa and, on applicable configurations, 5G cellular connectivity. Parrot specifies up to 70 minutes of flight time and up to 40 kilometers of flight distance for the ANAFI UKR GOV, while the XLR configuration uses an extended-capacity battery. The aircraft support GNSS-denied flight and incorporate electro-optical and infrared imaging, with the GOV configuration using a 640-by-512-pixel FLIR Boson thermal sensor and up to 35x digital zoom.

The DBOX PRT docking station incorporates environmental sensors, security cameras, Ethernet connectivity, and dual-SIM 5G communications. The system supports USB, Wi-Fi, and 5G data transfer depending on configuration. DBOX describes the system as providing autonomous deployment and recovery for remote aerial operations, reducing the need for personnel to remain with the aircraft between missions.

Drone Nerds will serve as DBOX's exclusive U.S. distributor and will provide integration, training, and support as part of its enterprise solutions portfolio.
