Summary

Electronics that operates in space must be hardened from naturally occurring radiation that can destroy or degrade electronic components and shorten the lives of orbiting satellites and sensors. The growing use of spacecraft for military and commercial applications means that radiation-hardening must be done economically and at-scale. This webinar seeks to detail the latest trends in how to keep electronics in space functioning at the highest levels.

Speakers

Ken Obuszewski
Vice President of Business Development and Product
VORAGO

Ken brings 35 years of technology industry experience with 30 years in semiconductor. Ken is responsible for driving the product roadmap and strategy for VORAGO, along with building strategic relationships within the Space industry.

Prior to VORAGO, Ken was the general manager of global automotive sales and business development at NetApp, Inc. Previously Ken held leadership positions at Intel, Motorola, Freescale and Blackberry, with responsibilities spanning across product management, business development, sales, and customer support. He is known for building strategic relationships with customers and partners. Ken holds a BS degree in Microelectronic Engineering from Rochester Institute of Technology.

Anton Quiroz
Founder
Apogee Semiconductor

Anton Quiroz has nearly a decade of experience in semiconductor entrepreneurship, P&L management, and navigating complex government contracts and grants. He is the co-founder and former CEO of Apogee Semiconductor, a fabless semiconductor company delivering high-reliability, radiation-hardened electronics for space and defense applications. At Apogee, Anton led the development and commercialization of a portfolio of rad-hard integrated circuits and secured multi-million-dollar funding from agencies including NASA, NSF, DOE, and DoD.

Prior to co-founding Apogee, Anton held leadership roles in sales, strategic marketing, and product line management at Texas Instruments and Cobham Semiconductor Solutions (now Frontgrade), where he gained deep technical and market knowledge in space-grade semiconductors and aerospace systems.

Anton earned a B.S. in Electrical and Electronics Engineering, summa cum laude, from the University of Florida. He currently supports small and mid-sized businesses as a strategic advisor on government contract compliance, technology commercialization, and go-to-market strategy. Through Ellis Space Solutions, he helps connect innovative space hardware and software suppliers with customers across the U.S., with a focus on emerging technologies for space resilience and mission assurance.

Melanie Berg

Mrs. Melanie Berg has over 35-years of experience as a designer, verification engineer, instructor, and reviewer for ASIC and FPGA applications. Melanie’s more visible accomplishments are her FPGA design contributions for the NASA sponsored New Horizons Pluto and Beyond Mission; and her research/development in radiation effects + mitigation strategies. Melanie was a member of the Radiation Effects and Analysis group at NASA/GSFC for over 20 years; and is the founder/CEO of Space R3 LLC.

She has published and presented several papers regarding: ionization and microelectronic error-response characterization, reliable synchronous design methodology, robust verification techniques, mitigation strategies for critical circuitry, reliability/survivability prediction calculations, and hardness assurance for space flight systems.
