RENO, Nev., 6 Sept. 2012. EM Research Inc. in Reno, Nev., is introducing the PLXO-100-XA phase-locked crystal oscillator operating at 100 MHz with an internal reference-detect switch. The device is for use with A/D and D/A converters, carrier recovery loops, system clocks, or as reference sources for frequency converters.

When no reference is connected to the RF and microwave device, the reference detect switch automatically engages a 10 MHz internal TCXO, providing uninterrupted use of the PLXO-100. Otherwise, the device Locks to an external 10 MHz frequency reference and exhibits low phase noise of -142 dBc/Hz at 1 KHz offset, low spurs of -70 dBc, and 0 dBm output power on a supply voltage of 12 volts DC.

EM Research offers the PLXO series in a surface-mount packages measuring 0.9 by 0.9 by 0.15 inches, or connectorized packages measuring 1.5 by 1.5 by 0.6 inches. The devices run at custom fixed-frequencies from 5 to more than 500 MHz.

The PLXO series features jitter of less than 0.05 pSec. It has RMS at 100 MHz, typical, optional internal references and select supply voltages of 3.3, 5, 8, 12, or 15 volts DC.
