TORONTO, Ontario, 4 Nov. 2009. ALT Software integrated its OpenGL ES 2.0 embedded graphics device drivers with the INTEGRITY real-time operating system (RTOS) from Green Hills Software in Santa Barbara, Calif.

OpenGL is a standard graphics API used in many computing systems. OpenGL ES 2.0 is an embedded subset of OpenGL defined by the Khronos Group for use in all manner of embedded systems, including mobile, industrial, automotive, medical, and avionics applications. OpenGL ES 2.0 enables these applications to leverage advanced capabilities of modern GPUs, ALT Software officials say.

"The combination of INTEGRITY with this new driver is ideal for system architects and OpenGL software developers incorporating advanced 2D/3D graphics into system-critical product displays," says Dan Mender, vice president of business development at Green Hills.

"OpenGL ES 2.0 represents a leap in graphics rendering technology that offers key benefits to hard real-time OS users", says Mark Snyder, ALT's vice president of product development. "By adding support for OpenGL ES Shader Language, high performance configurable rendering can be used to enhance sensor fusion, situational awareness, HMI user friendliness, and operator awareness. ALT's OpenGL ES 2.0 drivers are small footprint and enable hard real-time RTOS users to combine their traditional OpenGL HMI applications with these new features. Both system developers and end users stand to benefit."
