Helicopters, especially for retrofits has been a strong market for Cobham's avionics products, says Rob Creighton, director of marketing, integrated systems at Cobham Avionics in Mineral Wells, Texas. Helicopters are the workhorses for many industries, and especially in government and civil applications. Mike Suptin, president of Avionics International Supply Inc. echoed his comments, saying helicopters have been resilient and in the military market as well for avionics suppliers. Officials at Ultra Electronics Flightline systems told me at their booth that it was the helicopter market that has been one of their strongest growth areas, somewhat stemming the downward tide that hit the business aviation market. Creighton added that internationally in Europe the helicopter avionics market has been particularly strong.
