Triumph adds fuel technology to its aircraft MRO expertise with acquisition of Goodrich Pump & Engine Control

BERWYN, Pa., 27 Jan. 2013. Aircraft maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) specialist Triumph Group Inc. in Berwyn, Pa., is boosting the company's expertise in aerospace fuel system technology with its acquisition of the pump and engine control systems business of Goodrich Corp. from United Technologies Corp.

BERWYN, Pa., 27 Jan. 2013. Aircraft maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) specialist Triumph Group Inc. in Berwyn, Pa., is boosting the company's expertise in aerospace fuel system technology with its acquisition of the pump and engine control systems business of Goodrich Corp. from United Technologies Corp.

Goodrich Pump & Engine Control Systems, based in West Hartford, Conn., is an independent aerospace fuel system supplier for commercial, military, helicopter, and business jet markets. The acquired business, which will operate as Triumph Engine Control Systems LLC.

The company’s key offerings include electronic engine controls, fuel metering units, main fuel pumps for the new aircraft and aircraft MRO applications. Goodrich Pump & Engine Control Systems employs about 530 employees.

“The acquisition of GPECS will provide Triumph with proprietary capabilities in a market where we do not participate," says Jeffry D. Frisby, Triumph’s president and CEO. "In addition, the acquisition will enhance our ties to existing customers while also further diversifying our customer base due to GPECS’ strong alignment with all major engine OEMs and the U.S. Army."

The acquisition is subject to regulatory approvals and other customary closing conditions and is expected to close in the current fiscal quarter, and should add about $195 million to Triumph's annual revenues, company officials say.

Triumph designs, engineers, manufactures, repairs and overhauls a broad portfolio of aerostructures, aircraft components, accessories, subassemblies and systems. The company serves original equipment manufacturers of commercial, regional, business and military aircraft and aircraft components, as well as commercial and regional airlines and air cargo carriers.
