LYNNWOOD, Wash., 20 Nov. 2014. Crane Aerospace & Electronics, Power Solutions, officials in Lynnwood, Wash., is supplying its power electronics products for use on the much-anticipated C919 family of narrow-body aircraft from Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China Ltd. (COMAC), a Chinese state-owned aerospace manufacturer in Shanghai, China.

Crane Aerospace & Electronics, Power Solutions, will be supplying ELDEC Power Conditioning Modules (PCM) to provide flight-critical power management and conversion for Honeywell Flight Control Electronics (FCE) supplied to COMAC. The FCE is part of the flight control fly-by-wire system that will be used on COMAC C919 narrow-body aircraft. Fly-by-wire systems enable an electronic interface between the cockpit and the aircraft flight control surfaces.

Crane’s PCM selects the proper source, conditions, and supplies uninterruptable power to the FCE. To ensure availability of power under all conditions, the PCM can select from three independent power sources. It provides isolation between the aircraft power systems, removes transients, and provides reliable power for this critical equipment.

“We are very pleased to have been selected by Honeywell Aerospace for this flight critical power equipment, and we are proud to be onboard the COMAC C919 aircraft,” says Ed Fuhr, vice president of Power Solutions for Crane.

Crane Aerospace & Electronics, Power Solutions, also will be supplying its ELDEC Power Conditioning Modules (PCM) for the AVIAGE Systems Cabinet Computing Resource (CCR) supplied to COMAC. The CCR will be used on the COMAC C919 family of narrow-body aircraft.

Crane’s PCM selects, conditions, and applies the proper power source to the CCR. It provides isolation between the aircraft power systems and the CCR avionics modules. The PCM input filter removes aircraft transients and provides reliable source power for the avionics while powering the cabinet fan and control valve.

AVIAGE Systems, established in March 2012, is a 50/50 joint venture between General Electric Company (GE) and Aviation Industry Corporation of China (AVIC). The company innovates and brings to market superior high-value solutions and services in fully integrated, open architecture avionics for the next generation of commercial aircraft programs, such as the COMAC C919, a new narrow-body commercial aircraft being built in China.

Crane Electronics Inc., Power Solutions offers ELDEC, Interpoint, and Keltec power conversion, power distribution, and battery systems for commercial aerospace, defense, and space for use in avionics, ATA Chapter 24 Power Systems, communications, electronic countermeasures, missiles, radar, navigation, guidance, and utility systems.

Crane Aerospace & Electronics is a major supplier of systems and components for critical aerospace and defense applications -- from engines to landing gear, satellites to medical implants, and missiles to unmanned aerial systems (UAS). Product and service offerings are organized in solution sets, and include Cabin Systems, Fluid Management, Landing Systems, Microelectronics, Microwave, Power, and Sensing & Utility Systems.
