FARNBOROUGH, England -- Airbus has announced the addition of 10 suppliers as early adopters of its Skywise platform as the company looks to further integrate cloud-based analytics into the aerospace sector.

Skywise, launched at last year's Paris Air Show, is an open platform intended to allow product manufacturers, suppliers and end users to share data, perform analytics and make more intelligent operational decisions through data modeling, signal analysis and application creation.

Airbus' latest round of early adopters, announced during the Farnborough International Airshow, expands the pool to cover commodities including avionics, propulsion, structures and materials -- all of which exhibit a "digital readiness", according to the company.

"I'm very pleased to announce the next stage of uniting the aviation industry's data, by connecting suppliers to the Skywise platform," said Marc Fontaine, Airbus' Transformation Officer. "The scope and power of data integration technology, which only became available recently, is now bringing productivity gains which benefit all stakeholders in the aviation ecosystem, from suppliers and airlines to OEMS. When our aircraft are reliable and flying passengers, we are all better off."

Airbus is now focusing on developing three strategic use cases for Skywise, covering supply chains, quality and aircraft operability.
