Intersil Corp. is new name of former Harris Semiconductor

Officials of the former Harris Corp. Semiconductor Sector in Melbourne, Fla., are renaming the company Intersil Corp. after parent Harris Corp. spun off its semiconductor business in a recent $700 million sale to Sterling Holding LLC, a Citicorp Venture Capital Investment company. "As a stand-alone company, Intersil will have the speed and agility to grow market share in highly competitive markets," says Gregory Williams, president of Harris Semiconductor and the expected president of Intersil.
